George is preceded in death by his parents; Carlis “Jack” and Lora Ferguson Belcher, brothers; Clark Belcher, Carlis Belcher, and Travis Belcher, sister; Polly Belcher.
He leaves behind his adoring wife of 53 years Dorie Belcher, daughter; Michelle Whitfield, grandson; Jackson Whitfield, sisters; Betty Rogers, Patricia Acker (Jim), Brenda Parker (Wayne), and Linda Sorrow.
George was a hardworking man. He spent 28 years with the National Guard and retired as a Sergeant First Class. After retiring from Alabama power; he went to work in construction. He simply did not believe in idol hands. In what little spare time he had he enjoyed deep sea fishing and in his younger years hunting. Mr. Belcher was also an active member of Community Baptist Church in Maylene, Alabama.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A role model and true provider for his family. George Belcher will be remembered every day for the blessings that he has brought to those around him, and missed by those who truly loved him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the UAB Lung Transplant team and Southern Care Hospice for the care and support they have provided over this very difficult time.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday April 28, 2018 from 1 until 2:30 pm followed by a Memorial Service with full military honors at 2:30 pm at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Members of Community Baptist Church will be honorary pall bearers.
