

George Bernard Evans, of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 53 after a difficult battle with colon cancer. He was born on July 5, 1972 to Wanda Faye Wood and Samuel Greely Evans. George was a retiree of the US Army, serving several tours of duty around the world and he was awarded a Purple Heart.
George attended Tri-City Baptist Church in Millbrook, AL every Sunday he was able, and was also a Master Mason. In his younger years, he would find time to fish and camp with his son when he was able. He was a dedicated Alabama football fan, and a sharp dresser. Most of all, he loved being a PawPaw to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, George Patrick Evans (Heather Woodall) and Paul Daw (Hannah); grandchildren, Moon, Kaylin, Steven, Kase, Koalson, Lydah, Lyssie, Ansley, Brynna, and Chandler; his mother, Wanda Wood Golden; brother, Johnny Evans; sisters, Tina McNeill (Brett) and Christy Moody Blue; niece, Jessica McNeill; and nephew, Samuel Evans.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo, Alabama, located at 3715 Highway 25, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 12:30 PM, with visitation to begin at 11:30 AM. Pastor Tom Woodfin will officiate.
The Committal Service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on the same day at Alabama National Cemetery, located at 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama.
The family requests guests come as they are.
