Gloria Cheatham Wilson

Gloria Cheatham Wilson, age 87, of Alabaster, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Gloria was born August 9, 1934. She was raised in Georgia with her sister by her mother, Annie Grantham, after her father, Clifford Cheatham, passed away when she was only two. Gloria spent her career in accounting and loved learning about history in her free time. She married her true love, Chester Wilson, on July 3, 1955 and was the backbone of their family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster and donated her time and talent with the Joyful Stitchers. She was an avid Georgia Bulldawgs fan. She was a very strong woman whose eyes lit up a room when she walked in. Gloria loved her friends and family with everything she had, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joyce Warren; brothers-in-law, Charlie Joe Wilson and J.B. Johnson; nephews, Barry Warren and Bob Wilson. Left to treasure her memory are her husband of 66 years, Chester Wilson; daughter, Carol Clem (Stanley); son, Darryl Wilson (Miranda); grandchildren, Jaclyn Wilson Sides (Christopher), Christy Wilson, Blake Wilson and Casey Wilson; great-granddaughters, Shelby and Piper Sides; sisters-in-law, Frances Vardaman (Jimmy), Jeanette Johnson and Aileen Wilson; several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous dear friends and loved ones.

A visitation for Gloria will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Alabaster with her funeral service to begin at 12:30 PM. Dr. Steve Andrews will officiate. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
