Grover "Buzz" Clifford Lamb Jr., a beloved and cherished resident of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on February 21, 1938, in Lanett, Buzz was known for his brave and compassionate nature, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Buzz grew up in Lanett, Alabama, where he attended elementary and high school. His mother originally called him "Buzzy," but as he grew older, he preferred the nickname "Buzz."
At the age of 18, Buzz joined the United States Army, serving in field artillery. His service was marked by numerous awards, including the Good Conduct Medal, and he served overseas in Germany. After his military career, Buzz worked at Griffin Wheel in Bessemer, Alabama, and later for the City of Pelham in the water department until his retirement. He also served as a security guard in the Greystone Community.
Buzz was a devoted husband to Brenda Roshto Lamb for 44 years. He was the proud father of four children: William Terry Lamb (Clare), Belinda Lamb, Tammy Lovely (David), and Lori Anderson (Wes). He was also a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren: Andrew Lamb, Christopher Lamb, Joshua Tanner Ellison, Hanna Anderson, Hollie Neely (Preston), Collin Lovely, Caroline Lovely-Pick (Dalton) and Braxton Tate Anderson. Buzz is survived by his siblings, Roger Lamb, Jerry Lamb (Deanne), and Carol Knight. He was predeceased by his parents, Grover Clifford Lamb Sr. and Mary Lillian Lamb; and his brother, Glenn Farrar.
Buzz enjoyed hunting and fishing in Chambers County, Alabama, where he was raised. A devoted man of faith, he was deeply passionate about witnessing to others and sharing his beliefs. In February 2014, he authored, "Memoirs of a Witness for Christ", a book that shared his personal testimony. Sharing his faith meant everything to Buzz, and he was immensely proud of this work. Buzz was an avid fan of Alabama football and loved watching cowboy and western movies, especially "Gunsmoke." He also shared a special bond with his dog, Biscuit "Pretty Boy."
A member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Buzz was actively involved in the senior adult Sunday school class. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and his favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Enhabit Hospice in Birmingham, Alabama, for their compassionate care.
A committal service for Buzz will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery, located at 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
