

Holly Dickson Jackson, age 41, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 after an 18 month battle with ALS. Holly was born November 21, 1981t o Cecil and Donna Dickson. She was a member of Dogwood Grove Baptist Church.
Holly was a 2000 graduate of Montevallo High School. While in school she not only excelled in academics, but she also enjoyed the experience of being a part of the Journalism staff, National Honor Society, JV and Varsity Cheerleader, MHS Mascot, and 2000 Miss MHS. After high school Holly attended University of South Alabama where she was a member of AOII social sorority and student government. Also, while at South, Holly was chosen as an USS Alabama Crewmate. After a couple of years at South, Holly decided to return home and complete her education at University of Montevallo. At UM Holly completed requirements for a BS, Master’s, and an Education Specialist Degree. Holly was awarded an Outstanding Graduate Student award and in February 2022 she was awarded the Outstanding Alumna in Elementary Education. For 17 years Holly was a teacher and spent a couple years as an assistant principal. Holly was an excellent math and science teacher, but her love was Alabama History. She spent a couple of summers conducting workshops across the State enriching teachers in Alabama history.
Holly is survived by her husband of 16 years, Jay Jackson; son John Thomas Jackson; daughter Eliza Jackson. She is also survived by her mother Donna Dickson, and a brother John Cecil (Britney) Dickson and their daughters Cecilia, Mary Ruth, and Alice. The family wishes to recognize Paulette Alexander who was Holly’s babysitter when she was younger and has been her constant caregiver during her ALS journey. The love and care she showed Holly will never be forgotten.
Holly was preceded in death by her father Cecil W. Dickson and grandparents John and Nena Dickson, Irene Stucker, Alvin Reed, and Dean and Robert Brown.
A visitation for Holly will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. Her funeral service will occur Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Dogwood Grove Baptist Church, 56 Church Drive, Montevallo, Alabama 35115 with burial following at Montevallo City Cemetery, Highway 73, Montevallo, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Holly’s memory to The ALS Association Alabama Chapter, 300 Cahaba Park Circle, Suite 209, Birmingham, Alabama 35242 or to Dogwood Grove Baptist Church, Children’s Ministry.
