Howard Thomas Dabbs, age 84, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away at home on June 11, 2020. Tom was a retired Master Sergeant of the US Air Force and also retired from civil service at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. He was a member of The Branch at Mission Hills Church. Tom was outgoing, never met a stranger, and enjoyed being in the company of friends and family. He liked learning about history, watching Alabama football, playing cards and board games, and he could build or repair anything.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Irene Jackson Dabbs; father, Charles Huffman Dabbs; daughter-in-law, Susan Diane Dabbs; and three siblings. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dabbs; daughter, Tamara Neel (Kevin); sons, Thomas Dabbs and Todd Dabbs (Carla); step-children, Lisa Ward, Matt Ward (Jenifer) and Amy Thompson (Steven); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter; and sister, Carolyn Rose (Ronald); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and church family.
His funeral service will be held at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) on Tuesday, June 12, 2020 at 10:30 AM, with visitation to begin at 10:00 AM. A private burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Hwy 119, Montevallo, Alabama. Rev. Brook Lovett will officiate.
