Lawrence Albert Day

Lawrence Albert Day, age 88, was born September 14, 1934 in Canton, GA and entered into rest on April 20, 2023. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved the Lord, serving as a deacon, Sunday School Director and teacher at Montevallo First Baptist Church and a member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster. He also served on the board of the Southern Baptist Convention and the International Mission Board.

Larry’s passion was GOLF and he played all over the world traveling extensively for C.S. Phillips Company as President and co-owner. He was a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.

He is preceded in death by his parents Phillip Jackson and Mattie Irene Rampley Day, first wife Betty Alford Day, brothers William and Robert Lee Day, and granddaughter Carlie Rose. Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, son Casey Day (Lynne), daughter Caroline Day Rose (Benny), granddaughters Ashley Day McDade, Allie Rose Johnston (Daniel), and Megan Perez (Guillermo), great granddaughter Peyton Day, brother James “Bobby” Day, sister-in-law Martha Sledge Day, and many nieces and nephews.

Larry lit up every room he entered with his bountiful sense of humor and will be missed by his family and many, many friends he made during his “Life Well Lived”.

A committal service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. A Celebration of Life service will begin at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) at 1:30 PM followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alabama Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org or www.JDRF.org for Type 1 Diabetes. In his memory, go play a round of golf.
