Richard "Mike" Michael Parks, age 67, of Chelsea, Alabama passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Mike was born December 27, 1953 in Helena, Alabama to Oliver and Loraine Parks along with four siblings. Mike served as Pershing Missile Crewman in the U.S. Army between 1972 and 1975, most of which he spent in Germany where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. After returning home Mike Married the love of his life Carol Scott and they settled in Hoover, Alabama. He was in the construction business for over 25 years. Mike was a larger than life man, the type not to be trifled with, but he had a big heart, he would give the shirt off his back and more, to any one in need. He loved the outdoors, and wildlife of all sorts. He also enjoyed his guns and took pride in his 2nd amendment right to bear arms. Lastly, Mike was a true American patriot, he loved his country and the freedoms he fought for not just for those he loved but for each of us to enjoy today.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Oliver Parks and Loraine Blake Parks; and siblings, Shirley Ann Golden, Tina Cranford, and Franklin Parks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Carol Parks; brother, Jimmy Parks; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will occur Tuesday March 2, 2021 at Cahaba Valley Cemetery in Bibb County, Alabama.
