

Robert Hilton "Bob" Cahoon, age 99, of Hoover, Alabama went to be with our Lord on August 3, 2021. Bob was born to Ora Mae Vance Cahoon and John Robert Cahoon on October 12, 1921 in Chunky, Mississippi. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Southeast Pacific. He also served during the Korean Conflict.
After graduating from Mississippi State University in 1948, obtaining a degree in Accounting, Bob moved to Birmingham to work for TCI (US Steel) for 35 years.
In 1949, Bob became a Mason. He served as Worshipful Master of Alpha 823 and Secretary for 23 years.
As an active member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church for 62 years, Bob served in many capacities including as Sunday School teacher, Chancel Choir member, member of the Friendship Sunday School class, and church treasurer for 25+ years.
He was a dedicated husband, father and "Nandi" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on in their hearts and he will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gene Taylor; grandson, Micheal H. Vaughn; sisters, Sarah Frances Dearman and Ora Lavone Presley; and brothers-in-law, Fred T. Trammell and Bobby Trammell. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Ann "Pan" Trammell Cahoon; two daughters, Cathy Ann Cahoon Brown (John) of Alabaster and Kimberly Cahoon Taylor Smith (Scott) of Dover, Tennessee; two sons, Robert Keith Cahoon (Michele) of Pelham and Kirk Randall Cahoon (Bart Ferguson) of Hoover; grandchildren, Wesley Brown (Jessica), Andrew Brown (Mary Beth), Christopher Taylor (Georgena), Jason Taylor, Isaac Taylor (Ashley), Aaron Taylor (Katie), Noel Taylor (Emily), Anna Elizabeth Cahoon Reeves (Adam) and Amberlyn Olsen; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Judy Chimento (Duke), Lore Buckland and Judy Ann Trammell.
The family was truly blessed and are so thankful for the compassionate care of Selah Stough, Lue Ellen McCrary, Ms. Pat and the staff of Comfort Care Hospice, and the Hoover Fire Department paramedics.
He will be laid to rest on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:15 AM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Bluff Park United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Holly and Rev. Reid Crotty to officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Masks and social distancing will be observed for all services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wes Brown, Andy Brown, Chris Taylor, Isaac Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Noel Taylor, Adam Reeves and Terry Turner. Honorary pallbearers will the member of Friendship Sunday School class, Jim Perry and Duke Chimento.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to Bluff Park United Methodist Church Discretionary Fund.
