

Amy was born on November 8, 1967, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to Dennis and Dorothy “Anne” Story. Amy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her kindness and dedication to her profession, friends, and family.
A native of the Montgomery tri-county area in Alabama for the past 28 years. Amelia “Amy” graduated from Troy University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Paralegal Studies in 1992. She was an astute student and excelled in band with the Enterprise High School Wildcats, graduating in 1986.
She went on to use her legal degree to the betterment of the community first in Dothan, Alabama and then working at McPhillips Shinbaum LLC for the last 28 years. Amy further served as a member of the Lions Club for eleven years and held roles as both a board member and officer, including President. Amy was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, a national honor, in recognition of her exemplary service to the club and community through humanitarian ideas. As a cancer survivor, Amy supported the Montgomery Cancer Wellness Foundation as an active board member for over six years. Amy believed in the conservation and sharing of history and held the position of Treasurer at the Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum, serving for 28 years.
Amy is survived by her sister Carol Morris (Greg), her sister Susan Story, along with their mother, Anne Story. Amy is also survived by her sister, Annie Durr (Tony). She is preceded in death by her father, Maj. (Ret.) Dennis Clark Story and stepmother, Bonny Story.
Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday, July 11, at Leak Memory Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will follow visitation. Ashes will be laid to rest by the immediate family in a private ceremony.

Survivors include husband, Terry Strickland of 30 years, and daughter, Stacey Hutcheson (JC); and son Jonathan Newman (Wendy); Grandchildren, Makayla Newman, Amelia Grace Newman, Peyton Halstead, Kayne Halstead and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
