Neese, April Eugenia (76) of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Lee Neese, Sr. and Barbara Roebuck Neese, and her brother, Eugene Lee Neese, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Bryna Carol Neese. April was born on Kessler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi on April 3, 1950.
Her early years were spent in a variety of locations from England to Wisconsin to Alaska as her father was transferred throughout his career in the UASF. When he retired to Montgomery, April discovered her love of theatre while acting in several productions while attending Sydney Lanier High School. She continued her acting journey at Huntingdon College, the Montgomery Little Theatre, and the Maxwell Playhouse while earning a Bachelor of Education. April decided to pursue her passion for acting and moved to California after her graduation in 1975.
While residing in San Francisco, she gave birth to her daughter. A year later, she moved back to Montgomery and found Jesus in a Krispy Kreme while discussing a friend’s faith. She later went on to teach third and fourth grades in Columbus, Georgia for three and a half years. After retiring her chalk holder, she heard God’s call to join Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Elm Springs, Arkansas. Daughter in tow, she became a missionary and traveled to El Salvador, Mexico, and Latvia to declare the joyous news of salvation in Jesus Christ. As a staff member, she shared her testimony while serving at a crisis pregnancy center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
After her father’s death in 1999 and in light of her mother’s declining health, she choose to move back to Montgomery in 2003 to assist her mother until her passing in 2016. April’s love of Jesus shined through her expressive face, joyful laugh, sparkling eyes, encouraging words, and love for all those around her. Her sweet spirit and quirky sense of humor will be most missed by her daughter.
A celebration of April’s life will take place virtually at a later date. Please make any memorial contributions to Preborn.com.
