

A courageous, driven, compassionate father, grandfather and great-grandfather has left our family, friends and this community to be with our Lord. Major Arthur Isola, Jr. a long time resident of Montgomery, AL passed away at home on July 10, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 95. He was surrounded by loving family. He was born July 24, 1925 in Detroit, MI to the late Arthur Isola Sr. and Sylvia Gast (Isola) Kahl. He was also preceeded in death by Dr. Juliane Isola, daughter-in-law. He is survived by sons Wesley Isola (Karen); Kenneth Isola; daughter Jane Isola Heard (Jim); daughter-in-law Irvina Isola; grandchildren Lena Oliver (Jon), Lauren Perkins (Vance), April Heard, Ashley Heard; great-grandchildren Jon David Oliver, Emme Oliver and Wyatt Perkins. He is also survived by his wonderfuly thoughtful, generous, kind neighbors and friends.
Arthur served our country as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces (which then became the U.S. Air Force) in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired after 22 years from the USAF as a Major. He then finished his Bachelor and Masters degrees. He began a new career as a math teacher and taught in area high schools and junior high schools until a second retirement. Arthur also taught and coached tennis, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was an avid water and snow skier, tennis player, golfer, gardener and dog lover. In later years, he studied the Bible in both Greek and English.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel. Services for Major Isola will be at 6:00 p.m., also at Leak Memory Chapel located at:
945 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery, Alabama, 36109.
