Betty Whiddon Thornbury

Thornbury, Betty W., 88, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, AL passed away on Thursday May 14, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband George M. Thornbury; son, George M. Thornbury Jr.; son-in-law Richard A. FitzGerald. She is survived by her daughters Betty A. FitzGerald, Melinda J. Thornbury; granddaughters Jennifer A. Allinder (Jeffrey), Kristie FitzGerald (fiancée Justin Seter); great grandchildren Caleb S. and Reagan E. Allinder.

She was the first nurse hired for Baptist Health, where she began as Operating Room Supervisor and ended her career as the Director of Nursing Services until retirement in 1985. She later worked for 19 plus years with the Baptist Medical Center South Volunteer Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday May 17, 2015 at 3:30pm. Honorary Pallbearers: Faith Sunday School class, Baptist Medical Center South Volunteer Auxiliary, and the Empress Garden Club. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm prior to service. Private burial will be on Monday.
