BROWN, Bobbie Jean Ott, 82, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2013 while at home after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born May 1, 1931. She was one of 11 children of John William and Fanny Lou Danztler Ott. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 of her siblings, and her loving husband and dance partner, John Lowell Brown and son, Roger Lowell Brown. She is survived by her siblings, Mildred Ott Crowe of Holly Hill, S.C., David Ott of Orangeburg, S.C., Jimmy Ott of Eutawville, S.C., Betty Ott Bussell of Charleston, S.C., and Carolyn Ott Padgett of Montgomery, AL. She is further loved and remembered by her two daughters Donna Brown Bowden and husband, John, of Montgomery, Alabama; and Brenda Brown Elrod and husband, Lant, of Raleigh, North Carolina; four granddaughters, Ginger Brown Pate and husband, Randy; Jamie Bowden Williams and husband, Jason; Brandi Bowden Strickland and husband, Joshua; and Katie Gayle Bowden; two grandsons, Matthew Baugh and wife Megan, and David Baugh; and six great grandchildren. She was a member of Ray Thorington Road Baptist Church and a devoted wife and mother. She worked alongside her husband throughout their lifetime at Brown Home Furnishings. If there’s anything about her that stands out, it was her sparkle. She had a southern charm and sparkle about her that made her light up a room. Her heart was full of a love for the Lord and her family. After her passing, the family found a note stating, “These things in this drawer have been read dozens of times. I love going over them through my lifetime. I’ve had the most wonderful husband and family a person could ever have. Written with a heart full of love for my family.” She will be greatly missed and we pray her legacy lives on in the lives of those who knew her. We welcome friends and family in a celebration of her life at Leak Memory Chapel on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. with the funeral following at 2 p.m. Services will be led by Reverend Jimmy Bowden, burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetary in Montgomery. Pallbearers include Jason Williams, Joshua Strickland, Brad Heatley, Shane Woodard, Lant Elrod and John Bowden.
