Burton Wheeler Martin (84) went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2024. Burt was born on March 31,1940, in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1948, Burt and his three siblings moved to the Alabama Children’s Home in Troy, Alabama. He attended Troy High School and graduated from Troy University. After college, he was commissioned in the Marine Corp and retired as a Major. Burt was a businessman, owning Martin and Associates and Window Moods.
Burt had a deep faith and was committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery, where he served faithfully as deacon chairman, usher, and led many disciple groups. He served on the board of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries. He loved traveling and serving the Lord through missions.
He was outgoing, never met a stranger, and loved his family and friends. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 64 years Carolyn Stewart Martin. His two children, Burton Wheeler Martin Jr (Vivian Flowers) and Carolyn Martin Arnberg (Andrew Brian). Also, Grandchildren Brian William Arnberg (Sarai Goldsberry), Sarah Arnberg Tisdal (Daniel), Michael George Arnberg, Charles Edward Porter, and five great grandchildren; Boone Wheeler Brand, Bolton Henry Brand, Gideon Russell Tisdale, Lydia and Loic Arnberg.
Preceded in death by his parents Richard Nathaniel Martin Sr and Annie Laurie Whatley, brothers Richard Nathaniel Martin Jr, Oliver Wendell Martin, Allen Benson, and sister Virginia Martin Holloway.

A friends and family visitation for Burt will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Green Hills Cemetery, 1621 S. US Hwy 29, Troy, AL 36079.
