

Catherine “Kitty” Johnston Cobb passed away on February 7, 2026 at the age of 94. Catherine graduated from St. Mary Loretta in 1950 as valedictorian of her class. She attended nursing school at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She married Charles Hugha Cobb on June 21, 1954. Catherine lived her life on her feet, serving the Lord and those she loved. She devoted her life to caring for others as a nurse at St. Jude’s Hospital, St. Margaret’s Hospital, The American Red Cross, and the State of Alabama Public Health Department.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, George Howard Johnston and Melba Maurine Johnston; husband, Charles Hugha Cobb; daughters, Cheryl Maureen Speake, Anne Marie Cobb, and Catherine Dale. She is survived by her son, Howard F. Cobb; son-in-law, George Claude Speake; grandchildren, Charles Jennings (Kelli) Wright; Maurine Speake (Jacob) Batson; Catherine Jordan Speake (Devin) Jenkins, and Austin Daniel Cobb; and great-grandchildren, Jonas Lee Wright, Margot Corinne Batson, William Weldon Batson, Claudia Speake Jenkins, Samuel Holland Jenkins, and Julia Maurine Jenkins.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at St. Peter Catholic Church-Parrish Hall at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass following at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church.
