Daniel Lawrence Winstein, age 76 of Montgomery Alabama, went on to be with the Lord on December 27, 2023 with his wife, Pam and son, Daniel, by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Helen Winstein; in-laws Chuck & Verna LeClaire & sister-in-law Kay Melemed.
He was survived by his wife of 41 years, Pam Winstein, his children Doug (Angela), Jennifer (Jaime), Joshua (Kelly), Russell, Melissa (Chris), Daniel and Lance (Krista). Grandkids - Eli, Dakota, Vincente, Isabella, Aiden, Sierra, Ariel, Christopher, Tyler, Cailyn, Helen, Aubree, Allie, Haisley, Roman, Quillan and great grandchild Lyla, his sister Sue Florman, brothers-in-law Bruce Melemed and Gary (Barb) LeClaire, sisters in law Cheryl LeClaire and Linda (Harry) Hoks & many beloved nieces and nephews.
Dan lived a full life with four years in Merchant Marines & 26 years in the Coast Guard and got some of the greatest joy when he would show pictures and tell stories of when he was active duty. Dan took great joy in his position with Faulkner University security, getting to know everyone he assisted and protected. He also loved to travel and see new places and then share stories of his experiences. Dan loved his family fiercely and endlessly, raising seven children and spoiling his 18 grandchildren. He would sit by smiling with a full heart as his grandchildren would run around playing and laughing, breaking things as he pretended to sleep. Most importantly, Dan loved God and if the University Church was meeting, you can bet he was there!
Dan was a lover, a fighter, a giver, a story-teller and a servant and exemplified those characteristics throughout his life and the latter years. Dan brought joy, light and life into the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He will be deeply missed by everyone that he touched.
II Timothy 4: 7-8: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge will give to me on that Day and not to me only, but also to all who have loved his appearing.
A family and friends visitation for Dan will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 9:00 AM at University Church of Christ, 5315 Atlanta Hwy., Montgomery, AL, followed by a celebration of life church service at 10:00 AM. Graveside at 2:00 pm at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
