Mrs. Forster was preceded in death by her parents Henry R. and Josephine Stark; daughter, Leslie S. Forster and sister, Nova Lee (Harold) Galvin. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard “Dick” Forster; sons, Michael (Valerie) Forster, Hope Hull, AL and David (Antrice) Forster, Valley, AL; daughter, Ann Forster, Brewton, AL; son-in-law, Freddie Daughtry, Greenville, AL; seven grandchildren: Brian (Jamie) Forster, Ashley Forster, Michael (Wendy) Pester, Brian Pester, Emily (Lee) Crawford, Jack Daughtry and Reid Daughtry and seven great grandchildren: Michael Pester, Logan Pester, Heath Crawford, Robert Crawford, Lily Marie Crawford, Cason Forster, Cohen Forster; and brother, Henry Richard (Lola) Stark. Doris devoted her life to her family, her church and her volunteer work, especially her work with the elderly. Doris never met a person, no matter what that person’s station in life or culture, that she did not love and show concern for. She started as a junior volunteer in a hospital for the aging when she was fourteen years old and continued her volunteer work as she travelled with her husband and children serving a military career and after retirement when they settled in Montgomery. Besides her work with the churches she attended, Doris served the American Red Cross (40 years); the Salvation Army (18 years at 6 locations, including England); Military Officers Wives Clubs (15 years) and numerous nursing and retirement homes in 11 states and 3 foreign countries for 70 years. In Montgomery, Doris was faithful to Wesley Gardens Retirement Home (25 years) and the Montgomery Area Council on Aging (25 years). She worked at both these agencies on the day before she was hospitalized with the illness that eventually took her to be with the Lord. Doris is one of the army of humble angels that the Lord sends forth in the world to serve and lift-up others with love, compassion and support. You will be missed by many sweet Doris.
