

Edna Garth Bird, 94, a longtime resident of Prattville, Alabama, recently living in Oneonta, AL, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, after a brief decline in her health. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Clifton Garth and Ruth Alta Gray Garth, and her husband, Frank W. Bird. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Blechert (Chad), and son, Kenny Bird (Debra). Grandchildren are Brad Bird (Danielle), April Bird, Anne Jordan (Jason), Vanessa Hardin (Chris) and five great grandchildren.
Edna was born in Selma, AL. Her family later moved to Montgomery where she attended Sidney Lanier High School and later Montgomery Bible School (now Alabama Christian).
Edna married Frank Bird on December 31, 1947. They enjoyed 71 years together. She was a faithful member of Prattville Church of Christ. In earlier years, she was the church secretary at Highland Church of Christ. She was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes for family and friends. She was the best grandmother for her grandchildren, who she loved dearly.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Leak Memory Chapel with a celebration of life at 11:00 am, Brent Missildine and Raymond Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
