Henry R Hagel passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. Henry was the son of Florence & Morris Hagel [deceased] who resided at 2 Laurie Lane Monsey, New York. He had two brothers, Andrew Hagel from Massachusetts, and William [Estelle] Hagel from New York.
Henry was married to his loving wife, Kathy P Hagel for 41 years. He was the proud father of Michael [Erica] Hagel and Anna [Jeff] Hines, and the proud grandfather of Saige Hines, Mattox Hagel, and Cameron Silva.
Henry graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx, NY. He then enlisted (May 1967 - July 1971) in the USAF and was stationed overseas at Udorn and Utopoa RTAF in Thailand during the Vietnam war. He then graduated from Erie Technical college in 1973 with an Associate’s degree in Materials Science. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1976.
Henry worked as a Welding Engineer for Westinghouse Electric CO in Montevallo, Alabama. Then for the next 26 years, he worked at the Lockheed Martin Co. bomber plant in Marietta, Georgia as a Material/Aerospace Engineer for the United States government. He retired from this position in 2005. After, he went on to work part time for United as a Lockheed & GE surveyor and auditor. Henry was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the National Association of Retired Employees (NARFE), and the Society of Aerospace Materials and Process Engineers (SAMPE).
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at Leak Memory Chapel - 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, AL 36109. Visitation will begin a 10:00 am with a service at 11:00 am. A military service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Georgia National Cemetery — 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr Canton, GA 30114. Please arrive by 10:45am to line up.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
