

Henry Lester Pitts died peacefully in Montgomery,AL on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 5:00PM-7:00PM. The celebration on Henry’s life will be held at Leak Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00AM with burial immediately following the funeral service in Providence Church Cemetery in Georgiana, Alabama. Pallbearers will be members of the Alcazar Shrine Temple; Lee Sims, Andy Compton, Gregg Moore, Bill Peavy, Bill Forshey, Jr., and Gene Mosely. Henry was born on May 7, 1933 in Selma, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt Pitts and Bernice McDaniel Pitts, and one sister, Evonne Reeves. Henry is survived by two brothers; Howard (Pat) and Harold (Richel) Pitts and one sister, Lois Harrison. He was also preceded in death by his wife; Inell Mosely Pitts, whom he was married to for 33 years. Of this marriage they raised their four surviving sons: Hank (Tracy), Steve (Gay), Danny, and Lester (Laura) Pitts. He is survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend and Lady, Geraldine Cadrette. He was an entrepreneur in the pipe line, welding, fabricating, and metal stamping industry for over 60 years. On June 26, 1957, Henry received his degrees in the Mystic Lodge in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Henry became a Shriner on January 9, 1976 and remained an active member of the Alcazar Shrine Temple until the time of his death. Henry was also an avid Christian serving God at Hope Hull United Methodist Church. He lived a simple life while teaching his family how to live by the Golden Rule and enjoy having fun. He enjoyed participating in all local Shrine events, especially the parades. He also enjoyed his family traditions and time spent on the Alabama River. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We wish to send a special thank you to his wonderful Best Friend and Lady, Geraldine Cadrette whom is a chosen member of our family and we attribute her to saving Henry’s life while loving and caring for him.
