Irene Colston Baker

BAKER, Irene Colston age 88 of Montgomery, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Crowne Healthcare. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Baker. Irene is survived by her daughter, Glenda Cherry Griffin; grandchildren, Angie (Billy) Jones, Lesley (Don) Smith, and Trey (Chrissy) Cherry; 4 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. She taught kindergarten at Green Gate School with Marge Payne and taught dancing with Tonya Speed at Dance Connection. Irene loved working with children. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary of Moose Lodge in Prattville. She was a charter member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and G.A.’s. Irene was also a proud Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery. Rev. David Warren, Irene’s nephew, will officiate with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel.

Pallbearers will be family.
