To my Monga-I loved you so much that I named my most prized stuffed animal after you as a kid and I love you still because you always made me feel so loved and important no matter what. All the years of you staying with us, pretending the built in desk was a dog house and the blue floor around the guest bed was the ocean, grew my childhood and imagination in ways you probably never understood. From our endless games of last tag each visit (that you always won without even trying!) to times you would make me omelets and scratch my back until I fell asleep. I’m not ashamed to say that every single visit was a sleepover party because you would never say no to me wanting to sleep in your room when I would stay. And in my adulthood teaching me all the things Grandma Rushing taught you about gardening and preserving crops. Some memories from my childhood are blurry, but the ones with you are crystal clear. Every wild idea I come up with, every corny one-liner joke I tell, every green bean plant I grow is a testament to you. But for now, Aloha Monga, thank you for loving me.

I remember Irene as a wonderful person who was a good friend to my mother, Catherine Arban.  She was very thoughtful in inviting my mother  and me over for fun evenings and family celebrations.  I will keep your family in my prayers.  May your many beautiful memories sustain you in this sad time.

Irene with her sister Evelyn when we made a trip to Alabama to visit.  The two of them always kept in touch since they were the only sisters living on the mainland.

Irene was such a good friend to me and my dogs  We enjoyed sitting on  her porch or in the park with other friends.  She always had a joke ready to share.  When the Atlanta  Braves were on television, she  was right there and being a loyal fan.  We all know that you are  with your LORD and bringing smiles and joy to old frieII     nds from Somerset.
