James Francis Maxwell

James Francis Maxwell, " Jim, " age 79, of Pike Road, Alabama passed away on August 23, 2025. He was a native of Bullock County, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University majoring in agriculture. After teaching school for several years, he began working for the Alabama Department of Agriculture until his retirement. He also worked with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Dean (Wilson) Maxwell, his father Lawrence K. Maxwell, and his sister Hazel Maxwell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty Rogers Maxwell, and their daughter Emily Francis Maxwell. Also surviving him are his two brothers, Thomas Maxwell and Robert Maxwell, as well as his sister Amy Maxwell Hill, and their extended families.

A memorial service to honor him will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Woodland Methodist Church, 4428 Wallahatchee Road, Pike Road, Alabama. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with a service following at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alabama Wildlife Federation.
