Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Bishop; daughter, Wendy Bishop; brothers, Robert Bishop, Leonard Bishop Jr., Curtis Bishop, Tommy Bishop, Dolphus Bishop, and Aubrey Barker; sisters, Carolyn Williams, Margaret Sanford, Esta Floyd, Mary Ann Foley, Ruby Wilkerson, Betty Jo Hunter, and Brenda Cruise; and his parents, Leonard and Sara Bishop.
He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Thrash (Michael) and his grandchildren, Madalyn and Oliver Thrash.
Jimmy was known to be a people lover. He liked to spend his time in the outdoors fishing, watching wrestling, and going to the casino. Jimmy also served as a shear operator at Sabel Steel for 52 years.
A friends and family visitation for Jimmy will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
