

Joanne Lomax Treat, 91, of Hope Hull, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, July 28, 2022 surrounded by the many books that she was reading or about to read. She was born on December 24, 1930 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Jay Treat and daughter Joanne Treat. She is survived by her children Hellen Patricia Treat-Balcar, Mercie Treat Brassfield (Rick), William Jay Treat, III (Valerie), John L. Treat, and Mary Treat Heath (Tim), her grandchildren Mariann Balcar, Brandy Brassfield Roland (David), Kayla Treat, Kasey Treat Schmidt (Blake), John L. Treat, II (Sabrina), Chelsey Heath, and Joshua Heath (Jordan), and great-grandchildren Daniel, Alli, and Holli Roland, Jesse and Jamey Treat, and Blakely Ann Heath.
Joanne was a homemaker and volunteered in the activities that her children enjoyed. She was a Girl Scout leader and started a Mounted Patrol troop for Girl Scouts on horses. She was active in the American Legion where her boys played ball. She was a voracious reader, puzzle worker and supported multiple charities, mainly those supporting wildlife, humane societies, orphans and veterans. She loved birds, books, music, old movies, jigsaw puzzles, and the many dogs she had over her lifetime. She outlived many a doctor, all of her dogs and most of her friends. She will be happy to finally know what comes next.
A family and friends visitation for Joanne will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Leak Memory. Following the family and friends visitation will be a celebration of life chapel service at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel.
