“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have ever lasting life. For in my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not true, I would have told you so. I am going to prepare a place for you. And I will come again and receive you unto myself so that where am I, you will be with me also for eternity.”
We now gather in spirit as we celebrate the life of Joe Allen Davis Sr., who died on January 7, 2022 at Baptist East Medical Center, Montgomery, Alabama.
A lifelong resident of Montgomery, Joe was a salesman, a skilled tradesman of many years in the many aspects of the homebuilding industry. Joe served in the Army National Guard, for 24 years, retiring in 2007 as a Sergeant First Class E7.
Joe never met a stranger. He was a golfer, a hunter and fisherman and was masterful at wood working and always witty with a big and kind heart. Joe’s frequent storytelling could never be matched and loved each day of his twelve years of retirement with the love of his life Betty always by his side. He loved his Lord and is now forever in His Presence.
He leaves behind his Dear Betty, his son and daughter, Joe Allen Davis Jr. and Stacy Davis Hutchins and his grandchildren, Patricia Smitherman and Caitlin Hutchins.
He is pre-deceased by his father, Earnest Luther Davis and mother, Bessie Hudgens Davis, brother Paul Davis and sister Betty Jean Davis and is survived by his brother Rex Davis and sisters Geraldine Porter and Dorothy Collins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Upgraded Life Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery, 36104.
