John F. Cummins, 89, a resident of Montgomery, AL died July 1, 2012 following a courageous battle against cancer. John was born in Newton, IL, served in the US Army until retirement in 1967. A combat veteran of WWII, awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Visitation will be at White Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 1pm, followed by a funeral service at 2pm, with burial immediately after in Greenwood Cemetery. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia; two children, daughter, Linda (Col. Edward Nicastri) Cummins Nicastri of VA; son, John F. (Sandra) Cummins II of Montgomery; grandchildren, John Wilson Cummins, Kathryn Anne Cummins, Patricia Rose Nicastri; and a sister, Dixie Marie Hiser. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Taylor, David Bull, Tony Shaddux, Darwin Watkins, Harry and George Lensch. In lieu of flowers please make charitable contributions.
