John T Knight Jr.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John T Knight, Sr. and Cora Raeke Knight; and his sister, Anita Reed of Lakeland, FL.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dianne J. Knight of Hayneville, AL; his son, Eric Knight of San Antonio, TX; his daughter, Shannon Knight of Montgomery, AL; as well as 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

John graduated Troy State University with a degree in Math. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Services Agency for several decades before his retirement.

He was a faithful member of the Hayneville Baptist Church and was their oldest male member. He was also a part of the Alabama Cattleman’s Association. He enjoyed raising cattle and visiting with his friends around town. He especially cherished his two protective blue heelers, Jasper and Lucy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Hayneville Baptist Church.

A graveside committal service will be held at Hayneville Cemetery on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
