

John Paul Wilson was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama to Nettie Rucker Wilson and Luther Wilson. He went to Ramer High School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He joined the US Air Force in 1954 and had an honorable military career in which he served in communications, fought in the Korean War and served a year’s deployment in Tooley, Greenland. He retired after 22 years in 1976 at the rank of Master Sergeant. After Paul retired from the Air Force, he returned home to Alabama and lived in Montgomery, Alabama for 47 years with his wife and two sons. Paul attained his Associates degree in Management from Alabama Christian College, Montgomery, AL. He followed USAF retirement with a 20-year career with the United States Postal Service and retired again in 1997.
He married his sweetheart, Elaine Jennings, in April, 1957 and they were devoted to one another for 67 years. Elaine preceded him in death on July 10, 2024. They were members of Frazer Church and active in many bible studies and Adult Sunday School. Paul was active and strongly opinionated. He had a boisterous laugh, bear claws for hands and a kind heart. He was very dedicated to work and his family.
They were blessed with 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, who were their pride and joy. Paul is survived by his two sons, John L. Wilson of Biloxi, MS, and Michael P. Wilson of Hiram, GA; brother, Alan Wilson of Glencoe, AL; grandchildren, Samantha Wilson, Daniel (Rebecca) Wilson, Emily Wilson and Ashley (Nate) Kelly; as well as great-grandchildren, Gabriel Wilson, Caroline Wilson, Ethan Kelly, Bo Kelly and Brooks Wilson. Their Grandson, Taylor L. Wilson preceded them in death as well as two brothers; George and William and two sisters; Barbara and Betty.

Our special gratitude to our wonderful friends and neighbors in Montgomery, the nurses and staff at Brennity Memory Care and Eastern Shore Rehab in Daphne, Alabama. Your kind words and loving care really do make a difference.
A Family and Friends visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Frazer Church with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following. A 1:15 pm Graveside Committal Service will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of their Grandson, Taylor Wilson, the family requests that if you feel led, donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
