Joy G. Carlisle, 87, of Equality passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, following complications from major abdominal surgery in Bolivia, NC. She is survived by her only son, Larry Bruce Carlisle of Bolivia, NC. She also leaves behind a brother, Jerry Gibson of Equality, a daughter-in-law, Patricia, two loving grandchildren, Erin Michelle Wade and her husband, Adam, her son, Pine, and her daughter, Ever, of Carlsbad, CA and Jeffrey Allan Carlisle and his wife, Becca, of Windsor, CT.
Born in Sandy Creek, AL, Joy was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Bruce Carlisle, and 4 sisters, Jessie Paulk, Bill Dillard, Eleanor Whittington and Jean Barnes. Joy and her husband, Bruce, opened and operated Joy’s Fabrics and Pfaff¦s Sewing Machines originally in Chisholm and later in Old Cloverdale until their retirement in 1995. Joy spent much of her later years enjoying all the blessings of Lake Martin and the many friends she made there through the New Harmony Church and Real Island Fire Department. It is a loving community that affectionately called her "Joyful" and who looked after her like she was their own. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and all who had the privilege to know her.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 2 PM at Leak Memory Chapel with Reverend Gary Merkel and Paul Perrett officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery. Her visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel.
