Katherine "Kitty" Garrett Dawson

Katherine “Kitty” Garrett Dawson, affectionately known as “Ghee”, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Sam J. Dawson, Sr., her parents John A and Katherine Garrett, and her sister Mary John Garrett Byrd. She is survived by her children, Sam J. Dawson, Jr. (Kimberly), Kitty Norris (Edward), Mary McDougald (Keith), and Donna Dawson; her grandchildren, Virginia Lacy (Josh), Mary Katherine Harrington (Derek), Samantha Gordon (Andy), Sam J. Dawson, III (Katie), and Katie Wallace (Austin); her great-grandchildren, Mason and Taylor Gordon, Claire and Lydia Lacy, Emery and Cooper Harrington, Bowen Dawson, and one on the way, Shepherd Gordon, and her life-long best friends Margie and Robin Embry. Ghee will be remembered for her free spirit, witty nature, and deep love for her family, church, and community. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:00 pm. The family will welcome visitors beginning 1 hour prior to the service. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright and happy colors in her honor. Memorial gifts can be made to Snowdoun United Methodist Church.
