Lester Wayne Owen

Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, with his proudest accomplishments being his two daughters and three beautiful grandchildren. He was a hardworking man who spent many years in the flooring industry, where his skills and expertise were highly respected.

Wayne was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, class of 1958, and went on to serve 8 years in the US Army Reserves. He was also a service exempt Master Mason with Air Force One Lodge No. 889 F A&M. He was a faithful member of Taylor Road Baptist Church.

Wayne enjoyed bowling and playing card games with his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wildred Bailey Owen; two daughters, Donna Owen Hayes, Cathy Owen Miller (Michael); three grandchildren, Corey Owen Hayes (MaryAshley), Jacob Wayne Miller and Kayla Michelle Hayes; brother, Larry Hall Owen (Jane); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Levi Lester and Ruth Hall Owen and Son-n-Law, Ronald David Hayes, Jr.

Visitation will be held on March 26, from 10 until 11 AM at Leak Memory Chapel. A graveside funeral service will be held in his honor on March 26, 2024 at 11 AM at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor Road Baptist Church.
