

Mary Virginia DiMisa Koerner (Ginger ) 87, passed away on October 4, 2025. She was born in Washington, DC on July 12, 1938 to the late James DiMisa and Ruth Evans. She was also proceeded in death by her husband Paul Koerner, her stepfather Richard Evans, her daughter Jeanelle Medcalf, her son James Koerner, her sister Helen Barton, and her brothers-in-law Don Barton and Mike Spinoe.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Janet Jenkins (Mark) of Geneva, Alabama; son-in-law Doug Medcalf of Wetumpka, Alabama; and daughter-in-law Ellie Koerner of Germany. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy Jenkins (Rebecca) of Catlett, Virginia; Jacob Jenkins (Kelly) of Fairfax, Virginia; Hannah Oergel, (Joe) of Midland, Virginia; and Joel Jenkins of Catlett, Virginia. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Callie, Caleb, Luke, Nathan, and Daisy Jenkins all of Catlett, Virginia; Norah Jenkins of Fairfax, Virginia; Logan and Connor Oergel of Midland, Virginia; her sisters Patricia Spinoe of Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania and Peggy Roney (David) of Germantown, Maryland.
Ginger was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Frazer Church in Montgomery, Alabama and served in the adult choir. Ginger taught the children’s choir at Frazer most of her adult life. She also taught an adult Sunday school class for years. When she was young and lived in Bowie Maryland, Ginger was a librarian. She also worked at Mary’s House of Music in Montgomery, Alabama. She was an avid reader. Ginger was well known for her love of sewing. She made many clothes for her children and grandchildren including the wedding dresses for both Jeanelle and Janet. She loved to crochet and was an award-winning quilter. She made many beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ginger loved her family deeply, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was always ready to share her testimony.
A Family and Friends Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel and Celebration of Life Chapel Service will follow at the same venue on October 18, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am with a Graveside Committal Service immediately following.
