

Gantt, Maxwell T., 88, a resident of Titus and Montgomery passed away Sunday November 10, 2013. Funeral Services will be held Thursday November 14, 2013 1:00 PM at Leak Memory with Dr. Shawn Merithew officiating (Morningview Baptist Church). Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM preceding the funeral service. Maxwell was born February 18, 1925 in Titus, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years who was the love of his life, Nell Boddie Gantt; his parents Isaac and Ardella Gantt as well as his brothers Baron and Houston. Maxwell is survived by his children Max (Patricia) and Elizabeth Cook (Tom); grandchildren Brett and Walker Gantt, Sarah and Will Cook and great-grandchild William Joseph Gantt. Maxwell served his country in World War II in the Navy aboard LST 75 in support of combat missions in the Pacific, Mediterranean, and Atlantic theaters as well as the D-Day invasion. Following WW II Maxwell continued to serve our Country full-time with the Alabama Army National Guard retiring as a SGM in 1986. Maxwell was a member of Morningview Baptist Church 59 years where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Maxwell was faithful to God, his family and country. He spent his retirement gardening, carving caricatures, watching and encouraging his grandchildren as they participated in sports and school. Pallbearers will be Kenny Holt, Wayne Gantt, Mark Gantt, Joe Boddie, Douglas Hall, and Andy Peterson. Burial will follow the service at New Home Baptist Church, Titus, AL. Our family would also like to express our appreciation to the staff of Elmcroft Assisted Living, DCI Inc., Pat Richards, Ora Cargill, and Lubertha Brooks for the wonderful care they gave to our father.
