Muriel Dorothy Rowell, a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on January 9, 2017 in Hoover, AL. Dot was born March 9, 1923 in Epsom Surrey England. While serving her country during WWII she met and married Ed, her husband of 57 years.
Dot was the most joyful and contented person this side of heaven. She taught kindergarten for 28 years and was a beloved member of Morningview Baptist Church for 60 + years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed and her son John. She is survived by her son Jim Rowell (Jennifer) of Hoover, AL; her daughter, Janice Nichols (Rick) of Plant City, FL; her daughter-in-law Susan Rowell of Knoxville, TN; her sisters Audrey Davis and Anne Stone of England and her brother Dudley Stone of New York.
She was lovingly referred to as Dee Dan or Nanny by her 8 grandchildren and her 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Rowell, B.J. Rowell, Grant Nichols, Rob Rowell, Judd Hough and Jim Clancy.
Services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home with visitation at 9:00 am and Chapel Service at 10:00 am. Interment in Greenwood Serenity Cemetery to follow.
