Myrtle F. Murray, age 80, a resident of Montgomery, entered into her heavenly mansion on August 27, 2011. She was born on December 13, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up in Nebraska, married her high school sweetheart Robert and became an Air Force wife. They were stationed all over the United States and retired in Montgomery. After raising her family she worked in secretarial roles for several local businesses. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her role as “hostess” to numerous family get-togethers and reunions, for which she enjoyed spending countless hours baking cookies and candies. She enjoyed needlework, reading, gardening and traveling with her family. She and Robert traveled to almost every state in the United States. She loved playing bingo and slots and was usually a winner. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bob; her parents, Reuben and Amy Petersen; her sisters Donna, Ruth, and Evelyn, and brother “little Eddie”. She is survived by her children, Marcee Strickland, Mona Callahan (Fred), Mark (Tracy), and Marvin (Cathy); grandchildren, Brad Callahan (Katie), Brooke Beddingfield (Rob), Jenny Lou Browning (Josh), Kirstin Kyner (Sam), Micah (Sarah), Abram (Chelsea), Noah, Aaron, Rebekah, Corrianne, and Caleb Murray, Sam and Ben Murray; and great-grandchildren, Aidan and Addison Callahan, Asher Beddingfield, and Keenan Murray. She will also be missed by her loyal dog, Mitzi, and her faithful caregiver, Angel. She was a lifelong Lutheran, most recently a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Prattville. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home.
