Carol was born in Slocum, AL on January 1st, 1947 to Myra Nell and Herman Lee “Dick” Jerkins. She went to school in Hartford, AL. Carol graduated from Samford University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1969. She married John W. Cooper on June 1st, 1968. Carol was a Sunday school teacher and kindergarten teacher for a number of years; she loved teaching. But most importantly of all, she loved Jesus.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents - Myra Nell Dean Jerkins and Herman Lee Jerkins, mother-in-law and father-in-law – Daniel D and Bonnie Mae Cooper, aunt – Betty Dean McDonald, aunt and uncle – Charlie and Dot Jerkins, and grandparents – James “Connie” and Audrey Dean.
Carol is survived by her husband, John W. Cooper; her children, Melinda Gayle Cooper (Tim Bowen) of Chesterfield, Va, and John “Danny” Cooper (Colleen Cooper) of Harvest, Al; her brother, Kenneth “Ken” Jerkins (Gwyn Jerkins) of West Palm Beach, Fl; her granddaughter, Sydney Grace Cooper; her cousin, John Glenn Jerkins of Greenville, SC; and her nephews, Kenneth “Mike” Jerkins Jr (Angela Jerkins) of Pensacola, FL and Jeffrey “Jeff” Jerkins (April Jerkins) of Auburn, Al.
