Norma Jean Walters, 77, of Montgomery, AL passed away peacefully in her home on May 17, 2019. She was born April 7, 1942 in Honoraville, AL and lived her entire adult life in Montgomery. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a beautician and florist. Her most cherished memories came from spending time with her family, and she was always ready for a road tip to visit her nieces and cousins, no matter the distance. She treasured the roles of mother, daughter, sister, and aunt most of all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Sarah Frances (Thomas) McGough, her sister Carol Burkett, and her brothers Carlton and Wayne McGough. She is survived by her son Michael Walters of Charlotte, NC, her brother Tommy (Cheryl) McGough of Montgomery, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Norma Jean's life will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, Wednesday, May 22 at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
She was deeply loved and will be remembered fondly in all of our hearts forever.
A heartfelt thank you to the many people who provided her care, comfort, and support in her home, especially Jeff and Bryan Moseley, Joy Graham, and Lindsay Avant.
