Opal Cone Bridges

Opal Cone Bridges, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Norris M. Bridges, Sr. in 1991. Survivors are her children, Velma and Tommy Sumerlin, Milton and Jane Bridges and Donna Susan Bridges. Grandchildren, Rhee and Joseph Schaub, Susan and Phillip Baker, John Sumerlin, Mike and Renee Bridges, and Marsha and Rick Lowe. Great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Josiah Baker, Timothy Schaub, and Destiny and Cori Lowe. She is remembered as a kind, gentle, Christian lady, devoting her life to lovingly caring for her family. Mrs. Bridges grew up in the home where her grandfather was born at Braggs, Lowndes County, Alabama. The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care given our mother by Bertha Roberson, Connie Barnett, and the Alacare Hospice Staff, especially Dr. McIntyre, Kari Dandridge, Pam Davidson, Mariah Hergenroeder, Janice Hamilton, Jessica Gaston, Paula Wilson, and Meghann Liveoak. Visitation will be 3:00-4:00pm Saturday at Leak-Memory Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 4:00pm. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
