

GOLDEN, RICHARD (Randy) RANDALL GOLDEN, 81.25 years, a longtime resident of Montgomery, joined his heavenly father on April 18, 2025. He is survived by: his wife of 33 years, LaDonna Golden; daughters: Christina Rhodes (Mike), Rachel Yelverton (John), and son, Michael Sherman (Elyse). He was "Grandpa" to his best friend and pride and joy, Chase Rhodes and other grandchildren Catalina, Ansley and Sawyer Quimby; Hake, Lawson and Asher Sherman; Austin and Morgan Rhodes and his sister Kary Fowler Golden and nephew Christopher Golden Fowler as well as "adopted" family Greg "Wiggler" Lurwig and Jon Rawls.
Randy was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 27, 1944. He graduated from Banks High School, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Auburn University and a Master's Degree from Plattsburgh College.
He was a faithful and dedicated member of Frazer Free Methodist Church and served as a gifted singer and choir member, participating in numerous choirs and vocal groups.
He proudly served and retired after 27 active-duty years from the United States Air Force serving as a leader in numerous positions: Strategic Air Command Pilot, Commander, Instructor and finished his career at Air University's Squadron Officer School at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL. serving there as instructor and later Vice Commandant. After military retirement, he worked as a financial planner and became a custom knife maker, selling knives all over the world.
Randy was a wonderful, loving and committed Mary Poppins Husband (practically perfect in every way with his big, baby blue eyes, father and a dedicated grandfather who was a home swimming, soccer, and basketball coach. His kind and hardworking character added greatly to the legacy that will continue in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard Percy and Virgina Fowler Golden, his wife, Betsy Ann Golden, and son Randall Scott Golden.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Frazer Free Methodist Church on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. He will be interred at Montevallo Alabama National Cemetery.
