Robert Edward Oliver, 84, of Montgomery, AL went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Robert was born on August 23, 1937 in Attalla, AL to Samuel Lewis Oliver and Mamie Cordelia Oliver both preceding him in death as well as his brother Dennis Oliver. His survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen Dale Owen Oliver; children Jimmy Oliver (Angie), Beth Hudgens (Sloan); grandchildren Robert Hudgens, Kassie Boggan (Andrew), Alyssa Sanders (Matt), Heather Cole (Mason), Ashland Oliver, Kristina Smith (Lee), Ross Hudgens; great grandchildren Harlee Oliver, Tripp Cole, Kannon Cole, And Anaka Sanders, and two sisters: Marie Bolton and Venice White and many nieces and nephews. He was in the Air Force for 4 years but settled in a career with the State of Alabama Highway Department for over 52 years. Most importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was always dependable to friends and family. The family asks that you join them in celebrating Robert’s life on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home with a visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm followed a 2:00 pm celebration of life chapel service. Burial will follow in Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Fishers Farm, PO Box 6191, Montgomery, AL 36106.
