Ruby Nell White Henley, of Montgomery, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2026, passing peacefully at her home surrounded by love.
Born on June 1, 1927, in Sprott, Alabama, Ruby lived a long, faith-filled life marked by devotion to God, family, and quiet service. On January 8, 1949, she married the love of her life, Curtis Alvin Henley, Sr., and together they shared 44 years of marriage built on commitment, faith, and enduring love.
Ruby was a devoted member of Dalraida Baptist Church, where she and Curt joined on May 8, 1953. Her love for her church family never faded-when she could no longer attend in person, she faithfully watched services online every Sunday. Her faith was not only something she believed, but something she lived daily through her words, actions, and example.
A proud stay-at-home wife and mother, Ruby poured her heart into her family. She was deeply loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She delighted in sending birthday cards to each one, ensuring they always felt remembered and cherished. Ruby could often be found spending quiet moments reading her Bible, drawing strength and peace from God's Word.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis Henley, Sr .; her parents, James Lawley White and Mattie Pearl Ashe White; her siblings, Nita White Childs, James Carson White, Cornelius Ralph White, and Gladys White Peeke; her grandson, Joshua Curtis Peavey; and her great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Henley. She is survived by her son, Al Henley (Jerrie); her daughter, Lynn Peavey (Howard); her adored grandchildren, Jay Henley (Marie), Jill Brooks (Todd), and Jeremy Peavey (Amanda); ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her dear sister, Lillian "Bean" White Acton.
Visitation will be held at Dalraida Baptist Church on January 27, 2026, at 10:00 with the funeral service beginning at 11:00. Reverend Rick Evans will officiate, with Leak-Memory Funeral Home directing. A private family graveside service will follow. Pallbearers will be Jay Henley, Jeremy Peavey, Todd Brooks, Dylan Sallas, Randy Braden, & Randy Rankin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Dalraida Baptist Church, 3838 Wares Ferry Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Esther Haynes for her devoted and loving care. Thank you also to Amedisys Home Health (Deriana Managan) for the compassionate care shown to Ruby. A special thank-you is also extended to her neighbor, Leslie Davidson, who was always ready to help whenever Ruby called. Ruby's life was a testament to faith, love, and kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of grace that will continue to live on through the generations she so dearly loved.
