Sara C Blake

Sara C. Blake, age 95, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed peacefully at her home on January 3, 2013. She was born August 8, 1917, the only child of the late Ruth Clements and William O'Neal. She attended Highland Ave Grammar School, Capitol Heights Jr. High and graduated from Lanier High School in 1936. She then attended Mrs. Hawthorne's Business School and The University of Alabama. She adopted her only child, Fred C. Griffin, in August 1951 who preceded her in death in Dec 2010. She served as a Civil Servant at Maxwell AFB from 1952 and retired in 1983. She was a standing member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church since 1967 where she served as a Children’s Sunday school teacher for 45+ years. She has been a business partner in Blake Enterprises for more than 30 years. She also co-founded Chisholm Gun & Pawn in the mid-1980s. She is survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Sullivan, Amelia Griffin, Fred Griffin, Jeff Blake and Kelley Moseley. Services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel with Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday January 8, 2013 from 5pm-7pm. Funeral will be Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 11:30am with graveside service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Ms. Blake has requested, in lieu of flowers, any remembrances be made as donations to Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
