Shelby (Jean) Nelson Cook, 80, of Montgomery, AL joined her Lord and Savior on January 8, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Myrtle Nelson, her husband and love of her life, Robert G. (Jim) Cook, and brother Ricky Nelson. She is survived by her son Randall Williams (Tammy) of Chelsea, AL, and daughter Cathy Varner (Jimmy) of Montgomery, AL; four grandchildren Brittney Ziemba of Auburn, AL, Luke Williams (Kera) of Valparaiso, FL, Garrett Guthrie (Alexis) of Montgomery, AL, and McKenzie Whitfield (Brent) of Chelsea, AL; and Nannie’s precious four great grandchildren, Eva Grace, Smith, Eli and Grey; brother, Terry Nelson, and loyal and dear friend Diane Franklin.
Jean was known for her love of family, great cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and especially her grandchildren and great grands. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching her Auburn Tigers. Most importantly, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Nehemiah Center, Faith Radio, In Touch Ministry, St. Jude Hospital, or the Salvation Army.
