

Thomas Tate Sumerlin went to Heaven on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. He faithfully served our country in the US Navy for 4 years and then went on to work for Bellsouth for over 40 years before retiring as special services technician. After retiring, he was employed at Maxwell Air Force Base with Northrop Grumman for 5 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Velma Bridges Sumerlin; children, Melissa Rhee Schaub (Joseph), Melanie Susan Baker (Phillip), John Thomas Sumerlin; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Susan Baker, Josiah Phillip Baker, Timothy Ellis Schaub, Destiny Lowe, Cori Carroll; sisters, Betty Faye Thornton (Ralph), Mary Eva Jackson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodie & Arzie Rhee Sumerlin; and a daughter, Marsha Pierce Lowe.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel with a Chapel Service at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 11:00am.
