William Clifford Hornady Jr.

William C. Hornady, Jr. passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90 on April 1, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Nellie N. Hornady; son Clifford Hornady (Betsy), daughters Joy H. Lowe and Nan Hornady (Pam Hudmon); brother Jack Hornady (Chris), sister Jean Vanderpool of Fredricksburg, Va.; sister-in-law Rose Hornady. He has 4 grandchildren: Gina Till (Gary), Chuck Tibbets (Allison), Stacie Headley (Jason), and Wesley Hornady (Carla), and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother David C. Hornady. W. C. retired from the Air Nationa Guard as a CMSgt with the 187th TFW. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army, 9th Infantry Division, in Africa and the European Campaign. He landed on Utah Beach during the Normandy invasion. W. C. was a member of the Oak Park Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 3:00 P.M. at Leak Memory Chapel with interment at Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Rev. David Stewart and Rev. Gary Burton officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family request you make a donation to the American Institute for Cancer Research or a charity of your choice.
