

William E. (Bill) Watt, 83, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on April 9, 2016, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by loving family as his soul took flight into the heavenly realm. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret (Peggy) Crane Watt; daughter, Cindy Spil of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Bonnie Orange Andrews (Pete) of Las Vegas, NV; Rachel Orange Gamba (Chad) of Charlotte, NC; and Sarah Orange of Las Vegas, NV; great-granddaughters, Aliyah Orange and Olivia Gamba of Charlotte, NC; and Lucy Orange, Bailey Andrews and Brooke Andrews of Las Vegas, NV; nephew, Jeff Patrick (Lori) of Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Ann Henley of Huntsville and Julia Precise of Millbrook; and brother-in-law, Charlie Crane (Penny) of Forest Home; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, with one of his cousins, Darrell Vargesko of Texas, present at his passing. He was preceded in death by a son, William E. Watt, Jr; parents, Lawrence (Buck) and Annie Watt; and sister, Maryanne Patrick.
Bill was reared in western Pennsylvania and lived his adult life in southern Alabama which he came to love when stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in the early 1950's. In addition to serving our country in the Air Force, he retired from full-time service in the Alabama Air National Guard in 1992. He was a member of St Bede Catholic Church. He spent much time and resources in service to humanity through his activities in the Montgomery Civitan Club and the Knights of Columbus. For many years he enjoyed the fellowship and activities of the Montgomery Area Square Dance Association. His family and friends will miss his joyful nature, his instruction in so many how-to's, and his stories of life.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 5:00-7:00 pm at Leak Memory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 12 noon at St Bede Catholic Church with Father Alejandro Valladares officiating. Interment will in Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery. Pallbearers will be Willie Williams, Billy Williams, Pete Andrews, Chad Gamba, Darrell Vargesko, and Jeff Patrick. Flowers will be accepted or donation may be made to a favorite charity.
