Born in Budapest, Hungary, Edmond immigrated to Canada with his family as a young boy. After graduating from Loyola High School, he entered McGill University where he completed his B. Sc. He then went on to obtain his medical degree in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, becoming an Associate Professor. During his many years at the Montreal General Hospital as well as in private practice, he was a highly respected physician to many in the Montreal community.
Apart from his professional success, what mattered to him most were his family and friendships. He was not only a devoted husband, cherished father and mentor to his own children, but became “Uncle Ed” and friend to so many who met him.
He is survived by his loving wife Lydia, his children Christopher (Emily Estadella), Paula (Scott Bagby), Stefanie (Dan Hillgartner) and his grandchildren, Leo and Maya. He was especially looking forward to meeting his new grandson who is due to arrive this December.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, November 9 between 4 and 7pm at the Centre Funéraire Côtes-des-Neiges 4525 Côtes-des-Neiges, Montreal.
A funeral mass will be held at The Ascension of Our Lord 375 Kitchener Ave, Westmount.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either ‘The Bell Fund’ through Cedars Cancer Foundation or to the Ascension of Our Lord Parish.
