In memory of my beautiful aunt, Elizabeth Morrison (born November 11, 1923), who passed away in Montreal on Saturday, July 16, 2022 around 8:30 pm after a life-long battle with chronic illness. The daughter of David James Morrison and Sophie Louise Potter, and sister to Cyril Morrison, Alma Atwill-Morin, Millicent Morrison (twin) and Wilhelmina Moule, she lived a very long life riddled with trauma and disappointments. Through it all, Auntie Bett maintained a great sense of humour and was a reassuring presence in both my mother’s life as well as my own. She was a beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt and great-great aunt.
Visitations will take place at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Homes at the 5610 Sherbrooke Street West location in Montreal on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm followed by the funeral from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. The drive to Mount Royal Cemetery from 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm will precede the burial taking place from 3:00 – 3:30 pm with a return to the funeral home for a reception from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
My mother and I would ask that anyone who knew Auntie Bett (Betty Boop) as well as all extended family members and friends of the Morrison, Moule and Atwill-Morin families attend her Celebration of Life to pay tribute to a woman who lived through the hardships of the Great Depression, World War II, and in more recent times the COVID-19 pandemic. A strong-willed, independent and well-read lady, she was a survivor in the truest sense of the word: someone who will be missed greatly.
Floral arrangements, cards and other gifts of condolence can be sent to Collins Clarke MacGillivray White at 5610 Sherbrooke Street West on Thursday, August 4, 2022 by 4:30 pm or the morning of August 5, 2022. The Funeral Home asks that you call 514-483-1870 prior to the deliveries.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-17
We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the LORD’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the LORD, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the LORD himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air. And so we will be with the LORD forever.
